Hank Kupjack, a well known miniaturist and former Park Ridge resident is dead at 67.
A Historical Society Memory: When the time for the 2004 Annual Meeting of the members of the Historical Society came near, the Society decided to ask Hank and Jay Kupjack to present the program following the luncheon and business meeting. That year, the Society had selected the site of the former Bob Rowe’s Pipe Shop for the meeting. At that time, the Brickton Art Center was renting the first floor space for its studios and office.
The Kupjacks politely declined, stating that delivering after-dinner remarks was not something they were comfortable doing. However, they suggested hosting a behind-the-scenes visit to their workshop as an alternate program. The idea was well received so following lunch and the Annual Meeting, the Kupjacks, members and guests walked over to their studio at Main and Fairview. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful tour viewing some of the finished miniature rooms created there, as well as works in progress. A very historic program indeed, in Eugene Kupjack’s long-time Park Ridge studio, with a tour provided by his sons, who took up their father’s passion for creating miniature rooms.
